In a charity event at the World Horror Convention famous authors will compete in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament.

(PRWEB) -- Poker and horror will come together at the 2005 World Horror Convention in New York City, when 20 famous horror authors compete in a Texas Hold'Em tournament with all proceeds going to the winner's prefered charity.

This tournament will feature twenty authors competing under Texas Hold 'Em rules. Participants include F. Paul Wilson, Jack Ketchum, John Skipp, Tom Monteleone, Michael Arnzen, David Morrell, Christopher Golden, Carlton Mellick III, Monica O'Rourke, Michael Huyck, Adam Pepper, Bill Breedlove, Valarie Thorpe, Simon Wood, Chris Treagues, and Jeremy Robert Johnson with others to be announced.

The event is organized in support of the forthcoming novel Play Dead by Michael A. Arnzen, and sponsored by Raw Dog Screaming Press. The poker game will be held at the Park Central New York Hotel on Friday, April 8th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Afterwards there will be a mass autograph signing where fans can meet all the authors involved. Later that night Raw Dog Screaming Press will also be hosting a release party free to the public.

The World Horror Convention will be held from April 7th to April 10th, 2005, and features many events with celebrities from film, literature, and visual art. More information can be found at http://www.whc2005.org/.

Michael Arnzen has been publishing ground-breaking horror fiction and dark poetry since 1989. His first novel, Grave Markings, received both the Bram Stoker and International Horror Guild awards.

The high-stakes thriller Play Dead will be released in hardcover on August 23, 2005.
